WinDuct® is a water-based intumescent coating specifically designed to provide fire protection for emergency smoke extraction ducts and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems. WinDuct® offers an efficient fire protection solution with just a thin layer of coating, proven to be the most cost-effective way to achieve the required fire resistance while complying with international standards. In the event of a fire, the emergency duct system is responsible for extracting smoke and toxic gases through fire-rated compartments.
For internally exposed ducts, the fire resistance level (FRL) is assessed based on the system's structural stability, integrity, and insulation performance (Type B ducts).
For externally exposed ducts, the fire resistance level (FRL) is assessed based on the system's structural stability and integrity (Type A ducts). In both cases, the fire resistance capability of the ventilation system must be tested according to BS 476 (ISO 6944) or AS 1530 standards, and the cross-sectional area of the smoke extraction duct must retain at least 75% of its original cross-sectional area. If the cross-sectional area falls below this threshold, the duct system is not approved for use in emergency smoke extraction systems. WinDuct® has undergone fire resistance testing by internationally recognized laboratories according to BS 476 (ISO 6944) and AS 1530 standards.
